The Saint Francis

The Saint is a river that seems out of place, it's just that great. It is the favorite of the few "local" rivers. The 2 hour drive is well worth it, the fantastic white water is accompanied by beautiful scenery. My first runs on this river on this riverstarted at a low level and increased trip by trip, 5" 10" 18" 24" 34" 39" and at every new bigger and better features arose. There are so many worthy play spots on the river that the time flies out the window. My personal favorite hole I have dubbed Dynamic, which is located on river right towards the end of the entrance rapids (if the name sticks i'll be happy). At the right levels it is the best hole on the river for spinning. My new favorite hole, due to a more retentive boat is the playhole right belove cats paw on river left. There are a lot of other rapids which are worth mentioning, Entrance rapids, to the quickly deteriorating Dam breech. The other thing this river brings to the table is a boatload of friendly local boaters! There are always MWA'ers on this river, and people of all skill levels. Every trip it seems like you meet someone and learn something new. If this river were only closer....
